The global foundry industry is facing increasingly stringent environmental regulations, driving the transformation of foundry coke towards green, low-carbon solutions. The new generation of environmentally friendly foundry coke leverages three key technological innovations: biomass additive technology, micro crystalline structure adjustment, and low-emission catalytic technology.
Breakthroughs in clean production technologies are notable. The adoption rate of dry quenching systems has reached 75%, delivering 40% higher energy savings compared with traditional wet quenching. Integrated desulfurization and denitrification units for coke oven flue gas reduce SO₂ and NOx emissions to below 50 mg/m³ and 100 mg/m³, respectively. Additionally, advanced coal moisture conditioning (CMC) technology stabilizes the moisture content of coal entering the furnace at 6%, enhancing coke quality consistency.
According to international carbon neutrality road maps, the share of low-carbon foundry coke must reach 40% by 2030, reducing carbon emissions per ton of coke from the current 3.2 tons CO₂ equivalent to 2.0 tons. Technological innovation, combined with carbon trading mechanisms, provides a competitive advantage for early adopters in the global foundry market.
